I’m Baaaack…Kinda?

Eats by Xtina Site Banner

It’s been a spell, hasn’t it?

Things have been a little, shall we say, crazy the past year?

What’s been up with me? I started grad school this fall. Going back to earn my Master’s in Public Health from The George Washington University’s Milken School of Public Health. Looking to pay it forward after our pregnancy loss a few years ago and make some real changes in how we approach women’s health care and mental health needs in our communities. I’m also still working full-time for a health system — managing websites and internal, employee communications.

Why make a food blogger comeback? I missed it!

I’ve been eating, baking and cooking – now, more than ever with this pandemic. So, I’ve got lots of photos, stories and more to share with you. It may be quiet on here for a bit while I do some housekeeping. Did you see the new logo and name of the site? I’ve been doing some re-branding in the background and still have some things to tidy up.

For now, you can find me on Instagram mostly at this point — instagram.com/eatsbyxtina where you can check out my adventures in being a sourdough mom, cooking at home during the pandemic and the occasional foodie adventure (with masks, of course!)

What I’ve Been Up To – Missing Emmett

Dear All’s Fare Food Blog loyal readers,

I know that it’s been more than two years since my last post and almost three since I’ve posted regularly. I thank you for your continued support.

This past year has been a difficult one for me and my family. We lost our first son, Emmett John Michael, in late April. I’ve just recently started to write again in an effort to share our story and help get more awareness around miscarriage and baby loss.

Recent research suggests that nearly 1 out of every 4 pregnancies end in loss, miscarriage, or stillbirth. So, how come we don’t hear about it more? My hope is that by sharing our family’s story, other families won’t feel so alone or isolated.

If you’d like, you can read more about Emmett’s story here and see our most recent blog posts here. If you know someone who’s gone through miscarriage or baby loss, please share our story with them.

Perhaps one day I may return to this blog and continue my foodie adventures around the world. However, for now, I feel my calling is to help other mothers who are living without children cope, grieve and remember their babies.

Sincerely,

Christina ❤

Contemplating the Future and Kane’s Donuts

It’s been way too long since my last post. Nearly 16 months. I’ve been struggling with what to do with this blog while trying horribly to lose weight, not to mention crazy work and family life happenings.

I have tossed around the idea of possibly switching to more of a “lifestyle” format that examines more than just food, providing a better way for me to comment on other aspects of my life. As much as I adore food, it does not make up all of me.

But while I still figure things out…here’s this glorious pic of some fabulous donuts from The world famous Kane’s Donuts in Saugus, MA.

If you have suggestions of what you’d like to see or if you’d follow me to another blog, please let me know in the comments below.

Dakota Says: No Chocolate for Doggies

dakota-xmascard Hi Mommy’s Bloggy Followers,

It’s almost Christmas! I’m soooo happy! My stocking is full of stuff for my first Christmas holiday with my new family. I hope my Mommy and Daddy got me some fun and yummy stuff!

So far this Christmas, I helped my Mommy make some cookies and pies. It smells so good in the house when she bakes!

But, I gave Mommy a little scare on the day after Thanksgiving. Lemme tell you why…
