What I’ve Been Up To – Missing Emmett

Dear All’s Fare Food Blog loyal readers,

I know that it’s been more than two years since my last post and almost three since I’ve posted regularly. I thank you for your continued support.

This past year has been a difficult one for me and my family. We lost our first son, Emmett John Michael, in late April. I’ve just recently started to write again in an effort to share our story and help get more awareness around miscarriage and baby loss.

Recent research suggests that nearly 1 out of every 4 pregnancies end in loss, miscarriage, or stillbirth. So, how come we don’t hear about it more? My hope is that by sharing our family’s story, other families won’t feel so alone or isolated.

If you’d like, you can read more about Emmett’s story here and see our most recent blog posts here. If you know someone who’s gone through miscarriage or baby loss, please share our story with them.

Perhaps one day I may return to this blog and continue my foodie adventures around the world. However, for now, I feel my calling is to help other mothers who are living without children cope, grieve and remember their babies.

Sincerely,

Christina ❤

You know it’s a great cookie even before you’ve placed them in the oven when you’re devouring the dough from the spoon, and slapping your husband (lovingly, of course!) for wanting the last schnibble-schnabble of doughy, chocolatey goodness. Then, once it bakes, your house is filled with this glorious aroma of family. Chocolate chip cookies smell like family.

Uber-Simple Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

I’ve been cooking a lot more now that we are getting a little bit more settled in the new digs. It also helps that I’ve been finding so many great recipes online and in books to try. So, when this super simple – almost too simple – recipe for homemade peanut butter cups popped in my Twitter feed (thanks to Alison Sherwood of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and her blog “Post-College Kitchen”), I HAD to try it.

Homemade peanut butter cupsSeriously, this recipe is SO easy. You need just a few ingredients. No need to bake anything. Just mix it together and chill in the freezer. Within about 30 minutes, you have an awesome dessert or snack!

Here’s what you need:
