Holiday Shopping Finds 2012

Black Friday. Small Business Saturday. Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday. So many ways to spend your well-earned paychecks in the days following Thanksgiving and leading up to Christmas.

I thought I’d take a quick glance at some of the quirky foodie finds that you can find out there this year. All of these items were found at a local CVS pharmacy in the metro Boston area so you may not be able to find all of these in your area. I’ve tried linking to online shopping sites that carry the items, if you’re curious.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the foodie gifts…

super pretzel makerThe first item on our wish list is this Super Pretzel maker. Now, you can bring home that soft-baked pretzel taste from the ballpark. You can make five mini soft pretzels and warm up cheese for dipping. It also comes with a recipe book. In the store, it sells for $19.99. Buy online here.

The Fudge Bar at Logan Airport

Mint Oreo fudge at Logan AirportIf you happen to have a domestic flight out of Boston’s Logan Airport with JetBlue (Terminal C), just like I did recently, you can indulge your sweet tooth with some fresh, homemade fudge treats.

The Fudge Bar serves up fancy fudge squares in flavors like pumpkin pie or mint Oreo. Here are some photo snapshots that I grabbed before my flight:

Give the Gift of Cupcake Soap

There’s a new store at the mall that sells some interesting gifts for kids-of-all-ages. As I was perusing the shelves, I noticed this gift for young foodies:

Cupcake SoapDecorate soaps to look just like cupcakes with shiny glitter and bath crystals. I’m not exactly sure what “soap clay” is but there’s no melting involved. It looks like it’s pliable – similar to PlayDoh. The kit comes with enough supplies to make three cupcake soaps.

The store that I was in sold the kit for $19.99 but you could also find it on Amazon for less here.

For those keeping track, there are only 75 days left until Christmas. (Check out the Christmas 2011 Countdown.)

Foodie X-mas Wishlist

Well, I am back on the interwebs! Besides a little problem with my mouse, I am back in blogging business. Without further ado, here’s a full-blown gift report!

There are 10 days left (almost nine) before Christmas. If you’re still procrastinating or not quite sure what to get that foodie on your holiday gift list, here are a few of the items that stuck out to me while browsing magazines and store shelves this festive gift-giving season:

Breville Pie MakerBreville Pie Maker at Williams-Sonoma

This Williams-Sonoma exclusive may just help me get over my pie-making phobia. Simply take any crust (even a store-bought one), place one in the bottom, add whatever filling – sweet or savory, then top with another crust.

The machine crimps and bakes four mini-pies in minutes. Now, that is a cool tool for the countertop. Right now, it retails for $79.95.
