The Fudge Bar at Logan Airport

Mint Oreo fudge at Logan AirportIf you happen to have a domestic flight out of Boston’s Logan Airport with JetBlue (Terminal C), just like I did recently, you can indulge your sweet tooth with some fresh, homemade fudge treats.

The Fudge Bar serves up fancy fudge squares in flavors like pumpkin pie or mint Oreo. Here are some photo snapshots that I grabbed before my flight:

Foodie Destination: Ghirardelli Square

Ghirardelli Square SignNo trip to San Francisco is complete without taking a few nibbles of chocolate from those chocolate dream-makers at Ghirardelli. However, Ghirardelli isn’t just one store. It’s an entire square just steps from the Bay City’s waterfront, overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

I have never been to SF before so when I found I’d have a little free-time after a work conference, I had to make the most of it. Trolley ride, dim sum and a stroll through Chinatown, and a famous Ghirardelli hot fudge sundae straight from the source.

I’m no stranger to Ghirardelli’s decadent treats. I’ve enjoyed their sundaes already at their locations at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World and on the Miracle Mile in Chicago. Ghirardelli’s sundaes are special because theyLombard Street in San Francisco make their own hot fudge and you can select milk or dark chocolate. The result is a dessert that will have you licking up every last morsel of fudgy goodness.

After being coaxed into a little second story restaurant in Chinatown and enjoying a quiet, yet great dim sum meal, I took the old-fashioned cable cars down to the wharf area. Our trip took us past Lombard Street, the famous avenue with eight hairpin turns. The end of the Powell-Hyde Cable Car line is just a short, two-block walk to Ghirardelli Square.

6 New England Things To Try

We have been in Boston now for a little over 3 months. I’m getting comfortable with work and the new home, but now I need to get acquainted with some new food items.

Here are 6 things that I want to try (sooner rather than later):

Lobster Roll

Once the weather gets better, we’re going to head up the coast to Maine. I was so little when my family took me to Maine as a kid – not quite lobster-eating age yet. So, I’ve never had a lobster roll – a hoagie-style roll piled high with chunks of fresh lobster and mayo.

Adam Richman visited Portland, Maine on a season of “Man v. Food” and hit up a cozy little place on the beach called (appropriately) the Lobster Shack that serves up more than 150 fresh crustaceans each day.

Bring the Taste of Disney home

Disney is bringing foodies more multimedia of their restaurants, recipes and other culinary treats through a video series called “Taste of Disney.”

Join food writer Pam Brandon and her daughter, Katie, as they explore places like Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the annual Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. You can also find recipes for Disney-inspired treats such as Cheshire Cat cupcakes or a gingerbread house a la Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Check out more of the fun (and food) on Disney’s website.

Pam is the author of one of my favorite cookbooks – “Cooking with Mickey and the Disney Chefs.” You may remember it from this Key Lime Pie recipe I did last year from Olivia’s at the Old Key West Resort.
