It’s constructed with more than 1,000 pounds of honey, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 800 pounds of flour, and tons of Pixie Dust and creativity.

Let’s take a moment – one week from Christmas Day – to take a needed breather from all the wrapping presents, signing cards and other hecticness to look inside this marvel from some of the most talented bakers in the country, if not the world.

Bring the Taste of Disney home

Disney is bringing foodies more multimedia of their restaurants, recipes and other culinary treats through a video series called “Taste of Disney.”

Join food writer Pam Brandon and her daughter, Katie, as they explore places like Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the annual Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. You can also find recipes for Disney-inspired treats such as Cheshire Cat cupcakes or a gingerbread house a la Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Disneyland’s Haunted Gingerbread House

I just had to share this really cool video of Disneyland chefs creating a gingerbread house for The Haunted Mansion for the Halloween season.

During Halloween, The Haunted Mansion transforms into a world out of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” with Jack Skellington and Sally. Each year, they place a gingerbread house in the ballroom scene of the ride. This year’s theme was a tombstone. It measures six feet tall and four feet wide. It looks like it’s decorated with candy but it’s really fondant and royal icing.

The gingerbread house took a team of three chefs, electricians, designers and engineers to create.
