A Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

Ingredients in the Grand Floridian Gingerbread HouseWalt Disney World’s signature gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is a towering achievement. It’s constructed with more than 1,000 pounds of honey, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 800 pounds of flour, and tons of Pixie Dust and creativity.

Let’s take a moment – one week from Christmas Day – to take a needed breather from all the wrapping presents, signing cards and other hecticness to look inside this marvel from some of the most talented bakers in the country, if not the world.

Dining on the Disney Dream – Pt. 2

Disney Dream exterior photoWe’re back today with part two of AJ Wolfe’s look at dining aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship – the Disney Dream. (Click here in case you missed part one.) AJ takes us to some of the Dream’s fast food, or counter-service options, as well as to Castaway Cay, Disney’s private Bahamian paradise. Then, we look at some of the adults-only areas on the ship.

Take it away, AJ!

Counter-Service Options

Flo’s V-8 Cafe is located pool-side offering pizza, sandwiches and grilled items to savor in the sun! And Deck 11 Aft is where you’ll find the popular Eye Scream ice cream which is self-serve in a dish or cone, all-you-can eat while aboard the Disney Dream (have the caramel sauce!).

Bring the Taste of Disney home

Disney is bringing foodies more multimedia of their restaurants, recipes and other culinary treats through a video series called “Taste of Disney.”

Join food writer Pam Brandon and her daughter, Katie, as they explore places like Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the annual Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. You can also find recipes for Disney-inspired treats such as Cheshire Cat cupcakes or a gingerbread house a la Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Check out more of the fun (and food) on Disney’s website.

Pam is the author of one of my favorite cookbooks – “Cooking with Mickey and the Disney Chefs.” You may remember it from this Key Lime Pie recipe I did last year from Olivia’s at the Old Key West Resort.
