Coke Freestyle Comes to Boston

When it comes to regular sodas I am a Pepsi girl all the way – ever since I was a little kid. But when it comes to diet sodas, I do enjoy the occasional Coke Zero every now and again.

Recently, a cool new product debuted in the Boston area at Kelly’s Roast Beef locations. The Coke Freestyle is a touch-screen soda fountain that was introduced by Coca-Cola in 2009.

From this beverage station you can enjoy more than 100 different flavors of Coke products from Diet Coke with lime flavoring or Dasani water with vanilla. You can also get obscure beverages that were only available in foreign markets like Orange Coke.

I first learned about the Coke Freestyle machines from a report on the Disney Food Blog.

Review: Dolce Vita

Dolce Vita ExteriorOn our last edition of “Write the Caption,” we showed the picture of this guy (see right.) The winner of caption challenge is Pam with:

Sir, may I take your umbrella?

Well, this guy can be found outside one of my favorite spots in all of Boston’s North End, Dolce Vita (which means the “sweet life.”) Owner Franco Graceffa welcomes everyone into his home for an unforgettable meal.

With so many restaurants claiming they are the best in this little neighborhood, Dolce Vita is our go-to place when we want to savor a hearty Italian meal. Franco does just about everything at the restaurant from seating you to taking your order. If you don’t see something you like on the menu, he’ll work with you to create something that you will love.

The place is Richardson’s Ice Cream in Middleton, Mass., where the Richardson family has had a farm for more than three centuries. Yes, three centuries.

Caption Challenge: Woodman’s of Litchfield

I have to admit that I was really amused by some of the caption creations from the first “Write the Caption Challenge” for the following picture:

Clams from Woodman's of LitchfieldWhile this pile of fried goodness isn’t octopus tentacles or pork loins, it is a pile of what “Yankee Magazine” has dubbed the “Best Fried Clams” for 2011.

At the unassuming Mel’s Funway Park in Litchfield, NH, you will find Woodman’s of Litchfield, an offshoot of Woodman’s of Essex (Massachusetts), a New England staple that has laid claim to inventing fried clams in 1916.
